Our Staff

The Center's teaching staff are either full-time or part-time professional employees of the University and the State of Idaho. All teaching and administrative staff are Pediatric First Aid and CPR certified. We also supplement our program each semester with University student workers, interns and volunteers. All staff that work directly with children are licensed through the City of Boise. The license includes a fingerprint and a FBI background check.

Hob Boazman Director hboazman@boisestate.edu Hob Boazman has been at the Boise State University Children's Center since 1998. Hob is the Children's Center Director and has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Education, Early Childhood.

Melinda Butkus Assistant Director melindabutkus@boisestate.edu Melinda Butkus has been at the Boise State University Children's Center since 2004. Melinda is the Assistant Director and has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education Pre K-6 and a Masters degree in Organizational Management.

Joyce Tompkins Office Specialist 2 joycetompkins@boisestate.edu Joyce Tompkins has been at the Boise State University Children's Center since 2006. She is the Children's Center Office Specialist.

Marcella Andrus Teacher marcellaandrus@boisestate.edu Marcella Andrus has been teaching at the Boise State University Children's Center since 2001. Marcella is currently working towards her degree in Child Development and she is a Teacher in Transition classroom 159.

Lori Sampe Barker Lead Teacher loribarker@boisestate.edu Lori Sampe-Barker has been teaching at the Boise State University Children's Center since 1983. Lori has an Associates degree as well as a Bachelors degree in Child Care and Development. Lori is the Lead Teacher in Preschool classroom 142.

Kimberly Bohrer Teacher kimberlybohrer@boisestate.edu Kimberly has been teaching at the Boise State University Children's Center since January 2008.  Kimberly is currently working towards her Associates Degree in Childcare and Development and she is a Teacher in the Looping Program classroom 155.

Kim Zimmerman Lead Teacher kimberlyclark3@boisestate.edu Kim Zimmerman has been teaching at the Boise State University Children's Center since 2007. Kim has a CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) and is currently working towards her Bachelors degree. Kim is a Lead Teacher in the Looping Program classroom 156.

Leslie has a CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) and is currently working towards a degree in Child Development. Leslie is a Lead Teacher in the Looping Program classroom 153.

Kira Fewkes Teacher kirashumway@boisestate.edu Kira Fewkes has been with the Boise State University Children's Center since September 2007.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.  Kira is a Teacher in Preschool classroom 147.

Reba has an Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education as well as a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies. Reba is the Lead Teacher in Preschool classroom 146.

Cathlene Hopkins Lead Teacher cathlenehopkins@boisestate.edu Cathlene Hopkins (Cathy) has been teaching at the Boise State University Children's Center since January 2008.  Cathy has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.  She is the Lead Teacher in preschool classroom 144.

Melanie Williams Teacher melaniehowell@boisestate.edu Melanie has been working at the Boise State University Children's Center since January 2008.  Melanie recieved her CDA credential in May 2003 and she is currently working towards her Bachelor's degree.  She is a Teacher in classroom 138.
